What staff say about Hollybourne Hotels
Chris Sharp - Senior Assistant Manager
Georgian House Hotel
I first started working for the company back in 2005 when I enrolled on their trainee management scheme. I had no background in the catering or hospitality industry but spent two years working throughout the hotels learning all aspects from housekeeping to kitchen to front of house.
Upon completing my management programme I was given a job as an Assistant Manager and have continued to progress. Last year I was given the responsibility of Acting General Manager for 10 months while the Manager was on maternity leave. Whilst working for Hollybourne I have been on numerous courses and seminars to help support my development as well as picking up qualifications including First Aid and Personal Licence.
Caz Cook - Receptionist
My name is Caz Cook, I am the Head Receptionist at Farnham House Hotel. I started working for Hollybourne Hotels nearly 5 years ago after having my 2 girls.
I started at Alton House as a Receptionist and worked my way up to become a Duty Manager as well. I have completed my NVQ Front of House and my Bronze and Silver Achieve!, which is a company incentive.
I really enjoy working for Hollybourne Hotels. They will guide you and support you while you are working to gain extra qualifications within your job.
Michelle Woodall - Reception / Duty Manager
I began working at the Georgian House Hotel in November 2006 as a member of the Reception team. I found everyone to be very friendly and helpful, and it quickly became clear that the company are very encouraging and supportive in helping you achieve more and progress in your job role, from your Supervisors and General Manager, right up through to the Company Directors.
During my employment I have received substantial company training, enabling me to learn, and progress further in my job role. I have found the internal ‘Achieve’ training programme very useful in helping me learn more about the hotel and the industry. Also it has enabled me to confidently move into a more managerial role.
When I started, I was very surprised to find that Hollybourne Hotels also fund outside training and qualifications relevant to your workplace – through this arrangement I have achieved an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service, and an NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality Supervision, which I am very pleased with.
I was promoted to Reception Supervisor in 2008, and to Reception/Duty Manager in 2010 and continue to enjoy my job, work environment and job progression.
